Candy and Gum Drop For Sloan Part 2

Hello sweet people.
Spring has sprung and our weather has
just been beautiful.  Some of my lavender
roses are already blooming and they smell
so good.

I know some of you are still getting snow.
Hope Spring happens soon for you.

Let's get started with Part 2

Cut 1 - 6 1/2 inch square of candy fabric.

Cut 4 - 2 inch white squares.

Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on your
2 inch white squares.

Place a white 2 inch square in each corner of
your 6 1/2 inch square like shown in the picture.

Sew just on the outside of your line with your needle
barley touching the line.

Place the 1/4 inch line of your ruler on the stitching
line and trim.

Set your seams with your iron.

PRESS.

Cut 2 white 2 1/2 inch x 6 1/2 inch  strips.

Sew one on the top and one on the bottom.

Set your seams with your iron.

PRESS.

Cut 2 -white 2 1/2 inch x 10 1/2 inch strips.

Sew one on the left side and sew one on the right side.

Set your seams with your iron.

PRESS.

This is what your Gum Drop Block should look
like and it should measure 10 1/2 inches.

Square your blocks up so that all fit nicely
together.

These blocks are so much fun to make.  I am
alternating the candy block and the gum drop block.

Alternating blocks I am going to sew 4 across and  5
rows down.

I will put a 2 inch red border on first
and a 5 1/2 inch candy boarder on.

Hope these blocks are super fun for you.

I would love to see your quilt when you
are finished.

Hugs,
donna

Candy and Gum Drops For Sloan Part 1

I am back from my quilt retreat in LaGrange,
Texas.  We had a blast sewing and laughing
until tears ran down our legs.  lol!

While I was there I worked on some blocks
for a new quilt.  Naming it after one of sweet
great nieces Sloan.  Sloan is going to be 3 next
month.  Skyler Rose and Sloan are growing so
fast and I try to spend as much time with them as
I can.

This is fat quarter friendly and if you need a fat
quarter bundle of Candy Shop by Lecien you can
find it here

Sew lets get started making block number 1.

To start off you will need

One - 6 1/2 inch square of Candy Shop fabric
Two - 3 1/2 inch white squares

Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on each
white square.

Then sew just on the outside of your line with your
needle barely touching the line.

Place the 1/4 inch line of your ruler on your seam
and trim.
SET your stitches with your iron.

PRESS.

Please save your half square triangles because
we are going to use them.

Please check your block and see if you need to square
it up to 6 1/2 inches.

The 2 half square triangles you saved, you are
going to sew along the larger edge a 1/4 of an inch
being careful  not to stretch them.

PRESS them open.

Square them up to 2 1/2 inches.
I put the diagonal line of my ruler on the top of the
seam line and trim the right side and then top,
flip and do the same thing. This will help you get
perfect half square triangles.

Cut 2 - 2 1/2 x  6 1/2 white strips and sew them on the
top and the bottom of your block.

Set your stitches with your iron.

PRESS.

At this point your block should measure 6 1/2 x 10 1/2.

Cut 2 - 2 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch white strips.

(use the picture as your placement)

Place a 2 1/2 inch half square triangle on the upper right
and sew to a 2 1/2 x 8 1/2 strip.

Place a 2 1/2 inch half square triangle on the lower left
and sew a 2 1/2 x 8 1/2  strip on.

Set your stitches with your iron.

PRESS.

Sew the right side on and the left side on like shown
in the picture.

Set your stitches with your iron.

PRESS.

This is your finished block.

It should measure 10 1/2 x 10 1/2.

Hope you enjoyed making this block with me?  If you
have and questions please feel free to email me at
lavenderrose1965@gmail.com

Stay tuned on Friday March 23 I will show you Part 2.

Hope y'all have a great day and do something you love to do.

Hello sweet friends!!
February is here and Valentine's Day is right
around the corner.  Do you have your projects
ready for Valentine's Day?

This sweet heart quilt was made by my friend Carla.
Don't you just love the scrappiness of it?  The quilting
pattern I used is called Amethyst.  I love how it came
out.
If you are interested in having me quilt your quilt please
click under my header Long Arm Pricing.

Do you ever just need something simple to
do?  Well, I found these 2 vintage twin sheets
and quilted them.  I love Raggedy Ann and
Andy sew this was fun for me.  My sweet little
great nieces love them to curl under while
watching tv when they are over.

Hello sweet friends, hope y'all had
a wonderful Christmas?

Our son cooked us Christmas lunch
this year at there house.  Since

they really love staying home and enjoying it.
I don't blame them at all I love staying home
in my house too.

I pieced this 50 Years Rudolph quilt a
couple of years ago.  And I am just quilting it.
Hope you can see the little deer and bows I quilted
on it.  The binding is on all I have to do is
hand sew it on to the back.

Christmas by Moda.  The fabric's will be in my
shop in May sometime.  I can not wait.  It
is the sweetest ever, I am just smitten for the
